Overlit Wilco Station in Boone

This gas station canopy is lighted at about 95 footcandles. This is several times the amount recommended by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. It is actually dangerous to fill up here at night since your eyes lose their dark adaption and you then leave the station night-blind, often forgetting to turn on your

headlights. It also causes danger to passing motorists whose vision is disturbed by the glare and spill light on the road. This just for advertising!
