Image of overlit gas sation

Many gas stations have canopy lighting that is too bright for safe entry and exit from the highway. The table below has measurements of the brightness (illuminance) measured in the pump areas of the stations. The measurments were made with a Cooke Corporation Cal-LIGHT 400 meter which has calibration traceable to the National

Institute of Standards and Technology. The IESNA recommends 5 fc in dark environments and 10 fc in bright areas. This table will be extended and edited.
