Many gas stations have canopy lighting that is too bright for safe entry and exit from the highway. The table below has measurements of the brightness (illuminance) measured in the pump areas of the stations. The measurments were made with a Cooke Corporation Cal-LIGHT 400 meter which has calibration traceable to the National |

and Technology. The IESNA recommends 5 fc in dark environments and 10 fc
